Lyme Hall was a remote hunting lodge. The house was built in Tudor times and was turned in to an Italianate palace in the early 18th century. Lyme Hall with its commanding views of the Cheshire Plains stands in a fine park among the ornate gardens. The house is notable for its Mortlake tapestries, woodcarvings and a collection of English clocks. The hall provides a memorable glimpse of a genteel and extravagant age.

Lyme Hall is set in impressive gardens and there is a guide leaflet available that helps in visiting the place. In the form of cherubs four statues represent the elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water. An Italian garden with variety of summer bedding plants called the Dutch Garden and had a cascade and a canal pond with fountain. The fountain and the planting are modern. A memorable view of the hall reflected in the waters while taking a walk to the far side of the South Lake.
