Glossops Annual Victorian Weekend 5th - 7th of September
Glossop is situated in the far west of Derbyshire which has some of the most beautiful scenery in the Peak District National Park. Glossop is a busy, bright modern town and often referred to as the Gateway to the Peak. It is an excellent centre for exploring the northwestern side of the Dark Peak. One of the most popular events of the year in Glossop is the annual Victorian Weekend, this special tradition transports visitors back in time to thr Victorian Days.
Glossop Arts and Leisure Association plans to make the Victorian weekend bigger and better than the yester years. The roads will be filled with Steam wagons, Victorian fair ground rides, accordion players, Punch and Judy, Stilt Walkers, Jugglers and Glossop’s very own Fire service with their engines. There is a main stage where lots of various acts featuring and Morris Dancers with their clogs to entertain every one. All are encouraged to dress up in Victorian costumes and there are prizes for the best dressed and for the best Victorian shop on display.
